We ask a lot of questions before we open a file.

Pixelfield Horizon is a design studio for brand identity, editorial layout, web art direction, packaging and print collateral. We work from a written brief, show directions in context and finish with files that a printer or a developer can use without guessing. We keep the number of open projects small so that each one gets a proper read before any layout is drawn.

Brand, editorial and web design

A project follows the same order whatever the format. First the brief, agreed in writing. Then research and two or three directions shown in context. Then refinement of the chosen direction, and finally the finished files with the guidance needed to use them: a usage guide for an identity, a print-ready PDF for a publication, an annotated Figma file for a website. Scope, schedule and fee are set out in a written quotation before work starts.

Brand identity. Logo, colour system, type selection, and usage guidelines. Built to work across print and screen from the first draft.

Editorial design. Magazines, catalogues, annual reports and books: grid, type scale and image handling set up so that many pages hold together.

Web art direction. Visual direction for websites: grid, type, image treatment, and colour. Delivered as a detailed spec for your developer or as a Figma handoff.

Packaging design. Surface design for boxes, bags and labels, worked from the printer's dieline with spot colour and short runs in mind.

Not included. Copywriting, photography, software development, printing itself and legal checks such as trademark searches. Where a project needs them, they are sourced separately and the quotation says who does what.
